A health educator and activist on a mission to change the world.

My dream is to provide enjoyable and meaningful education. My specialty is making health science user-friendly and fun.

I’m an FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner, or Funny Nurse Practitioner if you prefer) with a PhD in Education. I talk to groups about mental and physical health — in a way that’s not a snoozefest.

For decades, I’ve been honored to serve young people dealing with all the "S’s” of health: Sex, Substances, Stress, Social Norms and Spirituality (that’s code for the meaning of life). I recently retired after a 30-year career at Virginia Commonwealth University where I worked half time in the student health clinic and half time directing The Well.

I’ve got a few good decades of work left in me, so I’ve decided to do what I do best: educate, advocate, and now… donate! I’ll work with your campus or group, talk about stuff we both care about — and part of any fee generated is donated to a recovery program.

Education is the first step!

Networking is also vital as we work together on policies that make our communities healthier. I plan to advocate for better health and substance use policy before our elected officials — so help get me connected to your legislator!
